I’m so excited to be sharing this news with you all! We are expecting our first baby :-) I’m 17 weeks pregnant and the little one is due on the 15th March!

You may have noticed I haven't been doing much or creating many exciting recipes over the last 3 months….the reason being that I’ve been feeling pretty awful!!

The first 12 weeks (well, from about week 5) I started experiencing extreme nausea. I was only actually ill once, but I have never experienced nausea like it! I tried everything natural I could to try and help but nothing worked. I struggled to eat anything, went off smoothies, juices and salads! I still struggle a bit with these even now! Fruit and cooked veggies are fine so I have been eating lots of these so our baby still gets lots of nutrients! I have read in books and been told by the midwife that nausea is a sign of a healthy pregnancy due to the high levels of hormones, so that’s what has kept me going!!

Pretty much as soon as I hit 12 weeks the nausea started to disappear. I thought that was it! But then the sickness started :-( No longer was it constant nausea, but it was sickness almost every other day and sometimes 2-3 times a day! I am still getting a little of this now (5 weeks later!!) but it’s only about once a week now.

Other symptoms I have experienced are extremely low energy, dizziness and poor digestion. I am having to sleep 10+ hours and sometimes even have naps in the afternoon! Every time I stand up I get dizzy, which is very annoying! My blood pressure is lower than normal but still healthy, so nothing to worry about there, just a symptom of pregnancy. Fingers crossed this will get better soon! And my digestion has been very slow. I didn’t have any animal products at all for about 2 months because of this, but now I am having small portions every so often, as well as taking digestive enzymes and apple cider vinegar to help.

Because of all these symptoms I haven’t been able to train properly. I haven’t been to Crossfit (which is KILLING me!!), I spent about 2 months not doing anything on the sofa and even standing and a 10min walk felt like running a marathon, and the days where I felt good I did a light weights session, but then would feel awful for 2-3 days after!

So now I am managing to go for an hours walk a day in the beautiful countryside, and the last couple of days I’ve managed to do a bit of running too! Compared to what I used to do, this is nothing, but at the moment, I feel like this is what my body wants and needs, and I am so grateful to be able to do this.

I really do believe our bodies tell us what they need and when to stop, so it’s important to listen and not push it (especially when growing a little human!).

I never thought pregnancy would've been like this (naive I know!) but it has really given me huge respect to every mum out there! Plus, I know it will all be worth it! As soon as I hold our little one I will forget all about it :-)

I’m so excited about the rest of my pregnancy, especially now I’m starting to feel better! I’m loving all the cute outfits and excited about decorating our nursery! :-) I am also excited to share my journey with you all. I will be writing a blog about the story of how we found out soon so keep an eye out if you’re interested :-) If you’re not, I will be writing non-pregnancy related blogs too :-p
